Welcome to the Barley school website and thank you for your interest in our school. Barley is a Church of England school set in the heart of the village. Christian values underpin the education we provide and we endeavour to reach out into the local community and world wide to demonstrate our ethos of ‘Christian love in action’.

At Barley School we have high expectations for all our pupils. As a small school we are able to personalise learning experiences to ensure all our pupils make good progress, achieve well and are happy at school. Our staff team is experienced but innovative ensuring that the education we deliver is of the highest standard.

Ofsted Update: Paragraph from letter sent by Sir Michael Wilshaw - Ofsted (28th April 2014)

"I am pleased to inform you that the interim assessment of your school indicates that its performance has been sustained. As a result, the school's next inspection will not take place before the summer term 2015."

Congratulations to all of the staff, parents and governors for not only working to maintain our judgement of 'good' but also for your continued support in helping us work towards our aim of achieving 'outstanding'.

Our Early Years provision (awarded the 2013 Herts Quality Standard - updated 2014) caters for children aged from 3 onwards in a setting that is appropriate to their needs including a dedicated outside area. If you are looking for a school or nursery place for your child (if you have a child born on or within the dates 1st September 2010 to 31st August 2011 your child is entitled to a free Nursery place for 15 hours per week from September 2014), either as they begin their school career or moving into the area, we welcome visitors, especially during school hours, so that you can see the school ‘at work’. Please call Mrs Elliott on 01763 848281 or simply 'knock on the front door'.

We look forward to meeting you.
